General Psychology

Individual therapy provides the opportunity to explore concerns in depth, gain insight into patterns of thinking and behaviour, and develop practical strategies for managing challenges. Some people seek support during periods of acute stress or transition, while others attend therapy to address longstanding patterns affecting their well-being.

Concerns We Commonly Support

Adults may seek therapy for many different reasons. Some concerns are recent and situational, while others reflect patterns that have developed over time. Therapy provides a structured space to explore these concerns and work towards meaningful change.

Our psychologists commonly work with individuals experiencing:

Every presentation is unique. Therapy is guided by careful assessment and shaped according to your individual goals.

Evidence-Based Therapeutic Approaches

Treatment is grounded in therapies supported by clinical research and professional standards. Depending on your needs, your psychologist may draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy-informed strategies, trauma-informed models and mindfulness-based techniques.

The therapeutic approach is discussed openly and adjusted according to your progress and preferences. The focus remains on practical, structured strategies that support emotional regulation, behavioural change, and improved coping skills.

What to Expect in Therapy

Your first appointment focuses on understanding your concerns, personal history and goals for therapy. This allows your psychologist to form a clear clinical picture and develop a tailored treatment plan aligned with your needs.

Ongoing sessions may involve structured skill development, exploration of cognitive and behavioural patterns, processing of significant experiences or development of coping strategies. Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure therapy remains aligned with your goals. The number of sessions required varies depending on the complexity of your concerns.

Accessing Therapy and Coordinated Care

You may attend privately without a referral. If you wish to access Medicare rebates, you will require a GP-prepared Mental Health Treatment Plan where eligible.

Because our psychology and general practice services operate within the same clinic, communication between treating professionals can occur with your consent. This supports clarity and consistency in your overall care plan while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with professional standards. If you are seeking relationship-focused support, you can learn more about our Couples Therapy service.
