General Practice Consultations

As your family GP, our role is to assess concerns thoroughly, provide accurate diagnosis where possible and develop practical management plans tailored to your health needs and personal circumstances. We aim to build long-term therapeutic relationships so care remains coordinated and consistent over time.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Each consultation begins with listening. Your GP will explore your symptoms, relevant history and contributing factors before recommending appropriate next steps. This may include physical examination, investigations such as blood tests or imaging, discussion of treatment options or referral to a specialist where required.

If you have multiple concerns or require structured care planning, longer appointments can be arranged. This is particularly important for chronic disease reviews or mental health assessments. We encourage patients to mention all relevant concerns at the time of booking so adequate time can be allocated.

Acute and Ongoing Health Management

General practice consultations commonly involve assessment and management of acute medical issues such as respiratory infections, skin conditions, gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches, musculoskeletal pain and minor injuries. Your GP will assess your symptoms thoroughly and recommend appropriate investigations, treatment, or follow-up where required.

For patients living with ongoing conditions such as diabetes, asthma, cardiovascular disease or arthritis, structured and consistent medical oversight is essential. During review appointments, your GP may assess symptom control, adjust medications, arrange monitoring tests and update management plans where appropriate. Eligible Medicare patients may access Chronic Disease Management Plans, which can provide rebates for a limited number of allied health services each calendar year. Our focus remains on coordinated, proactive care that supports long-term stability and quality of life.

If your concern relates to a suspected fracture or injury requiring immobilisation, you can learn more about our dedicated Fracture Clinic for structured assessment and management.

Preventive Health and Screening

Preventive healthcare plays a central role in general practice. Depending on your age, medical history and individual risk factors, your GP may recommend appropriate screening tests or health assessments to detect potential concerns early and support long-term wellbeing.

These may include cardiovascular risk assessment, diabetes screening, cervical screening, prostate health checks and other evidence-based evaluations. Preventive consultations also provide an opportunity to discuss lifestyle factors such as nutrition, physical activity and sleep, which influence overall health. Vaccinations are provided in accordance with national immunisation guidelines.

Mental Health and Compensation Support

Many patients choose to speak with their GP as a first step when experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, sleep disturbance or other emotional challenges. A longer consultation allows time for detailed discussion and assessment, and where clinically appropriate, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan to support access to Medicare rebates for psychology sessions.

We also provide medical assessment and documentation for patients involved in Workers’ Compensation and Compulsory Third Party claims. Consultations may include injury evaluation, capacity assessment and coordination with insurers or allied health providers. Where psychological treatment forms part of recovery, referrals can be arranged to our Workers’ Compensation & CTP Psychology service. Spirometry is available for assessing and monitoring asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, where clinically indicated.
